Cycle Count Controls
Configure cycle counting rules by warehouse area—count methods, variance thresholds, display settings, and approval workflows. Fine-tune accuracy programs to match your operational needs.
What are Cycle Count Controls?
Cycle Count Controls are the configuration settings that govern how cycle counting is performed in different warehouse areas. They define count methods, variance thresholds, display options, and validation rules—allowing you to tailor your inventory accuracy program to each zone's specific needs.
Different areas of your warehouse have different requirements. A high-value small-parts zone might need exact counts with zero tolerance, while bulk pallet storage can accept wider variances. Cycle Count Controls let you define these rules once and enforce them automatically during every count.
Why Area-Specific Controls Matter
A one-size-fits-all counting approach either wastes time (over-counting low-risk areas) or misses problems (under-counting high-risk areas). Area-specific controls let you allocate counting effort where it matters most—maximizing accuracy while minimizing labor cost.
In JASCI, Cycle Count Controls are accessed from Inventory → Cycle Count → CC Controls. You can create new area rules, edit existing ones, or copy rules from one area to another. Changes take effect immediately for all future counts.
Configurable Control Options
Fine-tune every aspect of your counting program
Count Method (UOM)
How inventory quantities are counted
- Each/Unit Count
- Case Count
- Pallet Count
- Weight-Based Count
Display Variance
What counters see during counting
- All - Show expected vs actual
- Partial - Limited info
- None - Blind count
Variance Tolerance
Acceptable difference before escalation
- 0% (Exact match)
- 1-5% (Tight)
- 5-10% (Standard)
- Custom threshold
Cutting Rules
How incomplete counts are handled
- Allow partial counts
- Require complete counts
- Auto-close on threshold
Key Capabilities
Comprehensive counting configuration for every scenario
Area-Specific Rules
Define different counting rules for different warehouse areas. High-value zones can have tighter tolerances than bulk storage.
Count Method Configuration
Choose the unit of measure for counting: eaches, cases, pallets, or weight. Match the method to how inventory is stored.
Variance Display Options
Control what counters see: show all variances, partial information, or hide expected quantities for blind counts.
Max Variance Thresholds
Set acceptable variance percentages. Counts exceeding thresholds trigger recount or supervisor approval.
Location Check Controls
Configure whether locations can be allocated during active location checks. Prevent picks from unverified inventory.
Expiration Date Validation
Require counters to verify expiration dates during cycle counts. Catch date discrepancies before they cause issues.
Configuration Workflow
Set up area-specific counting rules in six steps
Access Cycle Count Controls
Navigate to Inventory → Cycle Count → CC Controls in the JASCI menu.
Select Area
Click "Add New" to create rules for a new area, or "Edit" to modify existing controls.
Configure Count Method
Choose the unit of measure (eaches, cases, pallets) appropriate for the area.
Set Variance Rules
Define display options, max variance percentages, and recount triggers.
Enable Validations
Turn on expiration date checks, location checks, and other validation rules.
Save Configuration
Click Save/Update. Rules apply immediately to all cycle counts in that area.
Operational Impact
Right-sized controls drive accuracy without wasting effort
